Itinerary
Eliye Springs Resort is located North of the equator. Unlike most places in the world around the Equator, Eliye has usually crystal-clear nights with no light -or air- pollution. A perfect location to study the Northern – as well as the Southern sky.
Due to our optimal conditions, our eyes can see up to 6,000 stars, 3000 on each hemisphere, compared to middle Europe with a maximum of 500- 1,000. Eliye Springs Resort on Lake Turkana is therefore an ideal place for Astro tourism. For full excitement a Telescope however is a must.

Day 1: Nairobi to Lodwar
Our tour coordinator will meet you at the hotel where you will be briefed about the safari then transferred to Wilson Airport for your local flight to Lodwar airstrip. Pick up from the airstrip and drive to Eliye Springs Resort located at the western shores of Lake Turkana. Arrive in time for lunch. The afternoon will be spent at leisure enjoying the activities offered by the resort such as sports fishing, boat rides and in the evening, you can experience a romantic sundowner on the lake (at an extra cost). Dinner and overnight at the Resort.

Day 2: Central Island National Park
Wake up early at 0600hrs to catch the sunrise over the lake. Later, depending on the tides of the lake, you will enjoy a scenic boat ride to the Central Island National Park. The Island is famous for its unique volcanic landscape, home to hundreds of species of birds both migrants and stopover birds from Northern Asian and Europe. The island consists of three crater lakes, Flamingo Lake, Tilapia Lake and Crocodile Lake (recorded to have the highest density of crocodiles in the world).

Walking trails lead you around the Island and to the highest elevation from where you can enjoy stunning views over two of the crater lakes and Lake Turkana. The three crater lakes are home to hundreds of flamingos which can be seen on the green water of the crater lakes. Enjoy your packed lunch on the island. Dinner and overnight at the Island. Only you and the stars in the middle of the biggest Desert Lake in the world!

Day 3: Central Island National Park to Eliye Springs Resort
After breakfast departure by boat towards the Resort. You may opt to have a cultural tour to interact with the Turkana People for a greater understanding of their culture and zeal to survive in this hardship area or enjoy the day at the resort as you admire the majestic scenery of the lake.

Day 4: Eliye Springs Resort to Nairobi
Morning breakfast followed by departure towards Lodwar airstrip for your flight to Wilson Airport, Nairobi. End of Safari.
